Honest Abe Society – Badge Licensing Rules
These Badge Licensing Rules govern the authorized use of The Honest Abe Society Membership Badge (the “Badge”). The Badge is licensed, not sold, and may only be used by active Members in good standing.
1. License Grant
The Society grants the Member a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to display the Badge during the active membership term.
2. Permitted Display
The Badge may be displayed only on law firm websites, attorney biography pages, professional profiles, and client-facing marketing materials.
3. Prohibited Uses
The Badge may not be used to imply bar certification, superiority, or endorsement by any governmental authority. The Badge may not be altered or combined with other marks.
4. Verification Requirement
Where feasible, the Badge must link to the Society’s verification page or include a unique identifier.
5. Termination
Upon expiration, non-renewal, suspension, or revocation of membership, all rights to use the Badge immediately terminate.
6. Enforcement
Unauthorized use may result in legal action, including injunctive relief and recovery of attorneys’ fees.
7. Ownership
The Badge remains the exclusive intellectual property of the Society.
Honest Abe Society – Badge Embed Code & Digital Display Terms
These Badge Embed Code & Digital Display Terms (“Embed Terms”) govern the use of the Honest Abe Society Membership Badge when displayed through digital embed code, image assets, or verification links.
1. Authorized Use Only
The Membership Badge may only be displayed by active Members in good standing who have been granted a current license.
2. Embed Code Requirement
Members must use the official embed code or badge asset files provided directly by the Society. Badge images may not be copied, recreated, or hosted independently.
3. Unique Verification Link
The Society may assign each badge a unique verification URL or identifier. Members must not remove or obscure verification features.
4. No Alteration or Modification
The badge may not be altered, resized disproportionately, recolored, animated, or combined with other logos in a manner that changes its meaning or appearance.
5. Automatic Expiration
Badge display rights automatically expire upon non-renewal, suspension, or revocation of membership. Former Members must immediately remove all badge displays.
6. Monitoring and Enforcement
The Society reserves the right to monitor badge usage and enforce removal of unauthorized or expired badge displays.
7. Intellectual Property Ownership
All badge designs, embed code, and verification systems remain the exclusive intellectual property of the Society. No ownership rights are transferred.
8. Remedies
Unauthorized use may result in injunctive relief, damages, and recovery of attorneys’ fees.
Honest Abe Society – Membership Terms & Conditions
These Membership Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern all applications, memberships, and participation in The Honest Abe Society (the “Society”). By applying for membership, renewing membership, or using the Society’s Membership Badge, the applicant (“Member”) agrees to be bound by these Terms.
1. Membership Based Solely on Self-Certification
Membership is granted solely on the basis of the Member’s self-certification of eligibility. The Society does not independently verify bar standing, disciplinary history, malpractice findings, or other professional records. Members are solely responsible for the accuracy of all representations.
2. No Ranking, Endorsement, or Guarantee
The Society does not rank attorneys, evaluate legal skill, provide referrals, or confer awards. Membership does not constitute an endorsement, certification of competence, or guarantee of legal outcomes.
3. Member Representations and Ongoing Duty
Members represent that they meet all eligibility criteria at the time of application and will remain in compliance throughout the membership term.
4. Fees, Term, and Renewal
Membership is offered on an annual basis subject to payment of applicable fees. Renewal requires reaffirmation of eligibility standards. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law.
5. Revocation and Termination
The Society reserves the right to revoke or suspend membership at its sole discretion if it believes a Member no longer meets eligibility standards, has made misrepresentations, or has misused the Membership Badge.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Society disclaims all liability for any damages arising from membership, badge use, or reliance by third parties.
7. Indemnification
Members agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Society from any claims arising out of misrepresentation, misuse of the badge, or breach of these Terms.
8. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration
Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except that the Society may seek injunctive relief to prevent unauthorized badge use.
9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Society maintains its principal place of business.
10. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between the Society and the Member.
